While it's fun to see the first snowfall after a long hot summer, I don't think anyone of us here in Western Colorado expected to see as much snow as we got yesterday. It was beautiful to watch from inside my cozy house, but when I got outside to dust all the snow off our vehicles the cold temperatures and miserable wind made me realize that summer is long gone and keeping my coat with me is now a must.

The good news is that the snow that fell yesterday and last night will not be sticking around as the temperature is expected to rise today and we are looking at sunshine for the rest of the week. So, just like typical snow in Western Colorado, while it looks nice now it will be gone soon. I think we can all agree that is a good thing, we don't need another day of students not in school.

But remember we did already learn that the Old Farmer's Almanac predicted normal snowfall for our area this winter, so we will need to keep our coats, gloves, and snow shovels handy over the next several months.

Although it was refreshing to hear already today about people that I work with going over to elderly neighbor's houses and helping them shovel their snow. The last thing you want is to have a neighbor hurt themselves due to the slippery conditions from the snow or ice. Plus it was just nice to hear a story of people doing good things here in our community.

Okay, enough talk, let's look at the snowy photos from the recent snowfall.
