The identity of the man shot on New Year's day in Orchard Mesa, Colo. has been identified.

The Mesa County Coroner's office has identified the victim as Randy Cook, 47, of Grand Junction. The cause of death was a single gunshot to the chest, the death has been ruled as a homicide.

Mesa County deputies were called to the scene around 12:15 AM on Wednesday where they found the body of a deceased male. The sheriff's department has not released many details of the case, and there have been no arrests made at this time.
