
Citizen’s Academy Gives Montrose Residents Inside Look at Law Enforcement
The Montrose County Sheriff's Office wants residents to have a working knowledge about first responders by hosting a Citizen's Academy.
The MCSO Citizens Academy is accepting applications for a 12 week session that starts on Thursday, September 21.
The weekly class/training is held at the Montrose Sheriff's Office and runs from 7 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. except for Thanksgiving Day. The final class and graduation is on December 14.
Classes will focus on a variety of law enforcement responsibilities and issues including, traffic stops, DUI investigation, response to resistance, communications, less lethal applications, crime scene and evidence collection, records, civil process, K-9 Unit, Special Response Team, school resource, detentions and the Sheriff's Posse.
Students must be at least 18-years-old to register for the Citizen's Academy Applications are available at the Montrose County Sheriff's Office. Applicants can also register online. Deadline for registration is September 4.
