District 51 has announced graduation dates and protocols for the class of 2020. Here's what you should know about graduation in Mesa County.

The Class of 2020 has been waiting to hear about walking across the stage for months since graduation was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Mesa County Valley School District 51 has announced their graduation dates and protocols for the class of 2020 and here they are.

Graduation Dates

All graduation ceremonies will be at Suplizio Field at Stocker Stadium July 10 - July 13 and here are the times and dates for all District 51 high schools:

  • Friday, July 10 @ 8 a.m. - Central High School
  • Friday, Jul 10 @ 8 p.m. - Palisade High School
  • Saturday, July 11 @ 8 a.m. - Grand Junction High School
  • Saturday, July 11 @ 8 p.m. - Fruita Monument High School
  • Monday, July 13 @ 8 a.m. - Grand River Academy
  • Monday, July 13 @ 8 p.m. - R-5 High School

Protocol

According to District 51, each graduate is allowed to have four guests at their graduation. Every guest must have a ticket and the graduate's guests can all sit together in 'areas that will be marked six feet apart from other groups of guests to ensure social distancing.'

All graduates must wear a mask (which will be provided) during their graduation ceremonies and guests and staff are encourages to wear face masks, according to D51. District 51 also asks that people with COVID-19 symptoms stay home as well as anyone who is medically vulnerable.

District 51 is also asking that only guests from Mesa County attend graduation ceremonies. According to D51, schools will be in touch about graduation and you can find out more information about graduation ceremonies in Mesa County here.
