It’s been almost 30 years since the last ‘Mad Max’ movie hit theaters in 1985. That's a long time since ‘Thunderdome’ but with ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’, the franchise is making a major comeback (albeit with a different Max Rockatansky). Need to catch up on your ‘Mad Max’ knowledge? You can get a primer on all things ‘Mad Max’ in the latest episode of You Think You Know Movies, which focuses on George Miller’s dystopian trilogy. It’s time to remember The Road Warrior. The man we called “Max”…

George Miller wrote and directed all three of the ‘Mad Max’ movies, but before his work behind the camera, Miller was actually a doctor. He completed his residency at Sydney’s St Vincent’s Hospital in 1972 and used some of his savings to finance the original ‘Mad Max’ film. ‘Mad Max’ was Mel Gibson’s first leading role as an actor and in the sequel, ‘The Road Warrior’, Gibson doesn’t speak until 11 minutes into the movie and only has 16 lines of dialogue in the whole film!

‘You Think You Know Movies?’ is a ScreenCrush original series that dives deep into the cinematic worlds of your favorite movies and freeze frames a few tidbits you might not have known. We’ve already tackled ‘Star Wars,’ ‘The Avengers’ and ‘Spider-Man,’ but now, it’s time to look back at the post-apocalyptic action films of ‘Mad Max’!
