Look What’s Happening Today at Dinosaur National Monument
Things got off to a slow start this morning at Colorado's Dinosaur National Monument. While Grand Junction sits at 45 degrees (as of 9 a.m.) things are a little different at Dinosaur.
Earlier today (Monday, February 3), the staff at Dinosaur National Monument posted the following message on their Facebook page:
Due to weather, the Quarry Visitor Center will have a 2 hour delayed opening while our maintenance staff clears roads, parking lots and walkways.
While this is not unexpected, it is an interesting contrast to what's happening in Grand Junction, 119 miles away. Dinosaur is sitting at 25 degrees in comparison to Grand Junction's 45. People around the studio are wearing t-shirts and complaining about how bright it is outside. Yes, everything they own blew away last night, but it's still surprisingly warm.
It appears things are going to be a bit chilly in Dinosaur these next few days. The National Weather Service predicts a high of 16 on Tuesday, followed by a high temp of 17 on Wednesday. Lows are expected to get down to -3 Tuesday night.
The Quarry Visitor Center at Dinosaur National Monument is open year-round, seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with the exception of Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day.
After placing a call to the visitor's center, it was learned the Quarry Visitor Center will be open as of 11 a.m. today, February 3.
