The 2021 Unknown Motorcycle Show has come and gone, and it was a doozy. Check out the bikes participating in this year's event.

The Unknown Motorcycle Show was held Saturday, June 5, in Montrose. Motorcycle enthusiasts from all over Colorado and surrounding states made their way to the event to display their vintage bikes.

New Venue for the Show

It was toasty to say the least. People were willing to take on temperatures in the upper 90s and a high risk of sunburn to enjoy this show. As it turns out, Cerise Park in Montrose was an awesome venue. Between the large parking area, an abundance of space on the lawn, and plenty of shade courtesy of the park's trees and gazebo, it proved to be an awesome venue.

Originally, the event was held at Gateway Canyons Resort in Gateway, Colorado. After two years it moved to downtown Palisade, where it remained for a number of years. In 2020, the new organizers moved the event to downtown Montrose. For 2021, the show found a new home with Cerise Park.

Variety of Bikes in the Show

This event has always been a "vintage" motorcycle event. The bikes on display are typically 25 years old or older. Bikes displayed include all makes and models.

Historically, there have been a large number of "project" bikes in the event. Peruse the gallery, and you'll see several fascinating custom motorcycles.

Fond Farewell

For the second time in the event's history, I entered a bike in the show. My mother's 1980 Honda TwinStar 200 was put on display. The unique thing about this bike is the low mileage. The bike is 41 years old but has only 2,800 original miles. It's been in the garage under a blanket for 40 of its 41 years.

I inherited the bike when my mother died. It was entered in the show with hopes a collector or enthusiast would be interested in purchasing it. Fortunately, that is exactly what happened. A collector purchased it with the intention of turning it into a display piece. That makes me, and I suspect my mom, very happy.

Get Ready for Next Year

It's probably safe to assume the event will be back in 2022. Participating in the event is fun, and very easy to do. If you own a vintage bike, I would like to encourage you to bring it out. These bikes mean quite a bit to a large number of people. There are those who would enjoy checking out your collectible or project bike.

Armed with my dumbphone, the kind you get free with any new activation, I snapped a few photos. Please take a gander at the awesome bikes from the 2021 show.
