KOOL 107.9’s NFL Pick’em – Zane Mathews Issues the Challenge

Picking winners of NFL games is easy. Picking the winners correctly, well, that's another story.The start of the NFL season is just over a week away. Teams are paring down their rosters, and fans are getting ready. Fantasy football fanatics are drafting their teams in hopes of getting bragging rights with family and friends. And something new this year to KOOL 107.9 is a weekly pick'em contest with weekly prizes, and a grand prize of $10,000.

I have loved picking NFL games ever since I was a kid, when I would keep a notebook each season, writing down each week's match-ups, and circling my predicted winners. Every week I would enter the local newspaper contest, trying to predict the winners of college and pro games. I've done on-line contests, and I've done weekly office pools during the football season.

As much as I have done it, you would think I would be pretty good at picking the winners. And, I think I am pretty good at it. Unfortunately, in reality  that is not the case. Yet, I continue to do it year after year, thinking maybe my luck will change.

Although I can not win any of the prizes in the KOOL Pick'em contest - not that I would be good enough to win  anyway, I am going to participate in the contest and challenge you to do the same. Can you pick games better than me? I'm also challenging my colleague, Ed Chandler to participate. He can't win either. But, what we CAN win is bragging rights.
