If you're familiar with western Colorado, namely the stretch between Grand Junction and the Utah border, there's a good chance you're aware of the small town of Loma.

Loma is known for its many outdoor activities including fishing, hiking, and camping, to name a few, but because the unincorporated town was established so long ago, there are also historic buildings still standing, including some that have been sitting abandoned for some time.

One of these abandoned buildings dates back to the year 1910 and is known as, simply, the Loma School.

This building dates back to 1910, a note also made apparent in smaller red characters on the face of it and has been sitting abandoned since 1982 following the ribbon cutting ceremony of Loma Elementary School.

Today, the historic building shows obvious signs of wear including large, noticeable cracks in the bricks that make up its exterior walls, as well as boarded-up windows. In addition, some of the windows have also unfortunately fallen victim to vandals at one point or another.

Trespassing inside the old building is strictly prohibited, but remnants of the school's glory days including two swingsets sit outside to this day.
