The Colorado Sculptured House

Charles Deaton originally designed Sculptured House as a sculpture on a mountain. The idea of living inside it came later. Sadly, Deaton ran out of money before he could see the project finished. He never did get to live inside.

Sculptured House Becomes the "Sleeper House"

Once the funds ran out, Deaton's "Sculptured House" sat vacant for over a decade. Woody Allen's 1973 film "Sleeper" stirred up interest in the "Sculptured House" again after it was recognized in the movie. About this time, the nickname "Sleeper House" took over Deaton's old vision.

Today, the house is also known as "Spaceship House".

Where is the Sculptured House in Colorado?

The house is located along a flat portion of ground on the side of Genesee Mountain in Jefferson County, Colorado. You can stop the structure when traveling west on I-70 on the south side of the highway as you pass the mountain. Technically, the house is located at 855 Visionary Trail in Golden, Colorado.
