The National Junior College Athletic Association launched its championship in 1958, and the following year, it found a permanent home in Grand Junction. The climate promises fewer rainouts, and our central-western location makes travel easier than heading to the coast. Over the years, Grand Junction has proven a perfect fit, and players love the hitter-friendly elevation at Sam Suplizio Field.
Suplizio Field and the Community That Built a Tradition
Sam Suplizio Field holds 7000+ fans and puts junior college athletes under the lights just like the major leagues. Day games feature epic Grand Mesa views, and fireworks follow the championship matchup. Fan turnout is strong with locals from all over the Western Slope selected as featured singers of the National Anthem ahead of the games. Grand Junction embraced JUCO early on. Today, it’s more than a tournament; we’ve all made it a nationally recognized baseball experience.
