Colorado is a state with more than 100 hospitals. A handful are in the spotlight to kick off the year, as Forbes just released its list of the nation’s top hospitals for 2026. It turns out, eight of them are here in our state.

How Forbes Rates Hospital Quality

Forbes’ Top Hospitals for 2026 list was built using 56 performance measures from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. The rankings considered outcomes, best practices, value, and patient experience. These rankings placed the heaviest weight on patient outcomes like mortality rates, readmissions, and infections. After extensive statistical analysis, just 253 hospitals nationwide earned the impressive 5-star overall rating, and only eight of them are located in Colorado.
