Colorado Keeps Growing – New 3-Digit Area Code on the Way
Many will say that local area codes in Colorado are being eaten up by scam callers, but the state will be running out of 970 numbers. In 2026, your new neighbors will have a new area code.
Colorado's 303 area code dates back to long, long before we all had cell phones. If you've lived in Colorado for a length of time, you may have been one of the first to have a 970 area code; on the bright side, that won't change.
Why does it seem like big news when we hear that Colorado will be adding a new area code? Maybe it's because nobody likes change, but changes are definitely on the way for the Centennial State.
NORTHERN COLORADO GETTING A NEW AREA CODE
People in the Northern Colorado area may have a 303, a 720, or a 970 area code. Honestly, there are a lot of folks in Colorado who have moved here from someplace else and still maintain the area code from where there from. It's not a huge deal; unless maybe you're into numerology.
