While Loveland is widely known for its annual Valentine Remailing Program and its sculptures, it's also becoming known for having a Colorado sports celebrity who loves to set Guinness Word Records for outdoor/backyard games.

Who Set a New Guinness World Record in Loveland, Colorado?

Luke Lorick, who lives in Loveland, has a regular job in the insurance industry; he also has a job a being a tailgating enthusiast. He created the National Tailgating Day (the first Saturday of September, annually) and has been on national broadcasts talking about tailgating and demonstrating new tailgating games and items.

What Record Did Luke Lorick Create/Set in Loveland?

In February of 2026, Lorick submitted to Guinness that he'd like to create/set the record for "Longest Ladder Golf Shot." In May of 2026, he received word that Guinness had agreed to "sanction" the attempt, and on Saturday, July 11, 2026, the stage was set for the attempt to take place at the practice field of Loveland High School.

Lorick had been practicing, and forecasted that he would be able to make a 100-foot shot. After five throws and 53 seconds, he indeed made that 100-foot shot. To take it further (literally,) he moved back to 110 feet and made that shot as well (though it took him 45 minutes.)

It will like be a few months (based off of previous record settings) before the folks at Guinness make it all official.

It was in the summer of 2022, that Lorick set the Guinness World Record for "Longest Backwards Cornhole Shot" in Downtown Loveland. I was there on-hand for the event; it was a fun morning. In September of 2023, he also set the record for "Longest Blindfolded Cornhole Shot" at 46 feet, 3 inches.

MORE COLORADO - Colorado's Snobbiest Towns

Colorado loves to act chill, until you see the price tags and attitudes in some of these towns. This list calls out the places where “laid-back” quietly turns into “we’re better than you.” We asked A.I. to give us what it thinks the snobbiest towns are. Don't @ us, this is the robots speaking.
