Loveland, like many communities in Colorado, has it's share of "ups" and "downs;" it's always nice to see an "up," especially when it comes to talking about Downtown Loveland.

How Long Had Loveland's Foote Lagoon Needed Repair?

Installed in 1987, as part of $15 million Loveland's Civic Center Complex, the Foote Lagoon had "leaking problems" for several years leading into the end of 2024. The city was in need of coming up with $500,000 for fresh concrete and a new rubber lining; a mid-year appropriation in 2025 made the monies available to get started.

The Foote Lagoon has always been one of Loveland's nicest areas: not only for gathering for a concert, as the amphitheater at the Lagoon can entertain 300 people, but also just to take a walk around that peaceful piece of water. Add in the sculptures around the Lagoon, including the whale's tail within the Lagoon, Foote Lagoon is one of Loveland's "must-dos."

In early 2025, the City of Loveland began its big $25 million 4th Street Revitalization Project, replacing old infrastructure along five blocks of 4th Street, improving sidewalks/crosswalks, among other things. The project, expected to go into spring of 2026, has disrupted many businesses, as getting to their doors can be daunting. Having Foote Lagoon back full of water is not only good for "morale' in Downtown, it's another reason for folks to come into Downtown for a day. They can enjoy a walk around the Lagoon and build up an appetite to satisfy at one of the Downtown restaurants.
