Colorado Says, ‘Aloha,’ to Cute New Hawaiian Spot in Loveland
The number of restaurants in Loveland, Colorado, has grown with the addition of a new Hawaiian restaurant/bar.
There just aren't that many Hawaiian places in Northern Colorado; especially since one of the area's favorites, Okele Maluna, in Windsor closed in 2020.
With a small (though authentic) menu, this place has a great shot at being a thriving part of Downtown Loveland.
After almost two years in business, a unique "Irish-Mexican" spot closed in Downtown Loveland in October of 2023.
This spot, on the east side of Lincoln north of Fifth Street (in Lincoln Place) is where you'll find this Hawaiian restaurant.
WHAT IS THE NEW HAWAIIAN RESTAURANT IN LOVELAND, COLORADO?
Say, hello, or "Aloha," to Da Big Kahuna Tiki Bar & Grill.
The owners of Da Big Kahuna, who are from Hilo, Hawaii, and now live in Berthoud, have been operating a shaved ice and food truck for about a year.
When Mex O'Malley's closed, Da Big Kahuna approached its owners about opening a "brick and mortar" Da Big Kahuna at that location.
In mid-November of 2023, Da Big Kahuna Tiki Bar & Grill was open, inviting folks in for cocktails and great Hawaiian fare.

If you had been into Mex O'Malley's before its closing, you'd notice that pinball machines and video games have been removed to make room for more seating. You'll also notice the updated "Tiki Bar."
DA BIG KAHUNA IN DOWNTOWN LOVELAND HAS A SMALL MENU
If you're familiar with Hawaiian food, you'll recognize some great offerings; if you're not familiar with Hawaiian food, you won't have to scour the menu to find something good.
I had the traditional Loco Moco: Hamburger, egg, rice, brown gravy. It was really good.
Da Big Kahuna has a great selection of cocktails, as well.
Within the first couple of weeks of being open, they won "Best Cocktail" at Loveland's 2023 4th Street Flannel Fest.
