I will say, back in the day a friend of mine and I ate more McDonald's than I would care to admit, literally based on a slight gambling addiction and the need to obtain more Monopoly game pieces.

And beginning on October 6, fans of 'the good old days' can relive them, as the iconic fast food chain revives the game for the first time in more than 10 years.

This time around, in addition to the usual million dollar cash prize - paid out as $50k a year for 20 years - potential prizes include a $10,000 shopping spree at Lowe's, a 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee and also, of course, more free food than you'll probably ever eat.

The contest kicks off on October 6 and runs for a limited time, through November 2. This year, in addition to the game pieces you find on select menu items like always, there's also a digital component where if you order on the app, you get digital game pieces.

According to a press release from McDonald's, the game "is a core memory for so many customers, and we’re excited that those memories can now be shared across generations," said Alyssa Buetikofer, Senior Vice President, Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer of McDonald’s USA.

She's not wrong! Not only do I have fond memories of feasting on their tasty fries for the chance to get more game pieces, but just playing Monopoly itself, with family and friends back in the day, is a sweet memory as well.

Fans of their food and the game can pre-register for extra bonuses within the McDonald's app now through October 5.
