Though it has had many fans, not a large amount of people are going to say it was one of "Colorado's Best Venues." Now, they've decided that the cost that's it's been taking to keep it open is not worth it, anymore.

You may have seen at least one of your favorite artists at this Colorado venue, but with so many venues around the Denver area, competition to book acts is tough. When you add in how the venue had a reputation for being a place for 'trouble" and the amount of money it's been taking to keep it running, it doesn't come as a surprise that it's run is over.

How many times have you been to Broomfield's 1st Bank Center? Was it for a concert, or another event such as the Harlem Globetrotters, or kickboxing? Perhaps you are a fan of, and attended games of, the Denver Roller Roller Dolls Roller Derby team. The venue did hold it's share of varied events, but now the city is shutting it down.

The Colorado Sun reports that the last days of the venue will come at the end of November, 2023, and they'll begin destruction of the place by spring of 2024.

1st Bank Center Open in 2007, and though it had a great start with acts like Mark Knopfler, Carrie Underwood, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, and others, the venue's demise has been coming down the tracks for a few years.

The pandemic certainly didn't help things, but the Colorado Sun reports that Broomfield has been pulling money away from other projects to keep the "lights on" for 1st Bank Center, which costs over $1 million a year to operate.

What will become of the 11-acre site, has yet to be determined, but Broomfield is "over" paying to keep 1st Bank Center open.
