Here’s Why Colorado Is Now Among the Top 10 Most Dangerous States
Do you feel safe in Colorado? Do you find Colorado a place where you have no problem leaving your car unlocked when you stop at the gas station? Personally, I have always been the type of person to lock my car whenever I leave it. It could be my age, but it could also be where I am living.
I am a Fort Collins resident and there has been an uptick of vehicle break-ins. Recently, a woman was heartbreakingly shot outside of her residence when she confronted two men breaking into her car. Thankfully, the woman will be okay.
Colorado ranks third in the nation in auto thefts, which is technically progress considering that we were ranked first the year prior. Are Colorado's safety concerns exclusively linked to issues with auto theft? Certainly not.
Is Colorado Safe? What Research Shows
New research by WalletHub ranked each state by the most to least state. WalletHub used 52 different indicators to evaluate and rank the states. The ranking does not exclusively link to crime.
Workplace safety, financial safety, and emergency preparedness were also factors to rank all states in our country.
Colorado Is One Of The Least Safe States
WalletHub's research concluded that Colorado is the seventh most dangerous state in the nation. While looking at the data, we noticed that Colorado struggles the most with workplace and personal safety.

Workplace safety specifically means fatal injuries at work and the type of safety protocols that workplaces have.
Personal safety pertains to crime and other forms of safety being at risk.
