Colorado has had a long-time love affair with craft beer. As of 2023, there were more than 460 craft breweries across the state, making Colorado fourth in the nation by number and fifth for breweries per capita.

Northern Colorado’s Craft Beer Scene

Here in Northern Colorado, we take our craft beer seriously with large craft breweries such as Odell and New Belgium. However, the smaller breweries are where many locals find themselves enjoying a pint of seasonal beer and kicking back and relaxing.

Over the past few years, numerous breweries in Colorado have announced either closures or the sale of their breweries. Soon, one craft brewery located in Fort Collins will be closing its taproom.

According to the Reporter Herald, a brewery that specializes in farmhouse-style beers will be shutting its door to patrons who loved to visit the taproom. In 2010, Funkwerks came to be at 1900 East Lincoln Avenue in the Choice City, and at the beginning of November, the taproom, where many have enjoyed a glass of beer, will no longer be open.

Since 2024, Funkwerks has been brewing its beer at the Denver Beer Co.'s production facility location in Denver in the Sunnyside Neighborhood, moving its brewing out of Fort Collins. Those who love Funkwerks beers will still be able to get them, however, as the brewery still intends to keep creating and brewing Colorado craft beers.

Farewell Party for Funkwerks Fans

The last day of operations for Frunkwerks in Fort Collins will be November 1, and there will be a going-away party, too. The band Shake Me, Wake Me will perform. Food from the Scrooge Maki food truck will be available for purchase, along with final inventory specials, merch deals, and more.
