Colorado is home to four great national parks. Each one of Colorado's national parks have an incredibly different experience and terrain. For example, Rocky Mountain National Park is drastically different than Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve.

Colorado's Great National Parks

At one, sandboarding is a popular way to spend your time. At the other, winter activities are king. I believe that Colorado has the most diverse national parks in the country. So here is my question.

How was only one national park in Colorado recognized in the top ten for Mental Floss's new list for the best national parks?

I find this hard to believe.

Colorado Has Most Diverse National Parks in the Nation

Mental Floss put out a list of the ten best national parks list, and Rocky Mountain National Park was the only Colorado park mentioned.

I find this confusing due the fact that Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park had half a million visitors last year, the Great Sand Dunes had more than 400,000 and Mesa Verde National Park consistently pulls in half a million.

Black Gunnison has become so busy that they began to stop taking cash for efficiency reasons. Visitors must now pay ahead and show a QR code before entry.

Give Colorado Parks Recognition They Deserve

Each national park in Colorado has their own vibe. I've been to a lot of national parks that were on Mental Floss's list.

I am sure that the ranking was based on population alone, but I just wanted to share my opinion. I absolutely love Rocky Mountain National Park, but I feel like other national parks in Colorado should have received some love too.
