How Begging For Cash Has Evolved in Colorado
Begging for money is nothing new. There are many different ways to do it. Some will play instruments, some will be a statue, some will sit on the corner with a sign, and others will have a cup in front of them and sit on the sidewalk. This can often be called 'panhandling ' or ' begging '. Sometimes these people are in desperate need of the money, but the majority of the time, these people are looking to make quick cash without having to get a real job, or because they can make more doing this instead of getting a job. While the above are examples of ways to ask for money, the game has changed. Begging in Colorado has evolved, and many are doing it in a new way in 2026.
Begging For Money in Colorado
For anyone who is on Facebook and a part of a community group, odds are you see plenty of messages asking for things happening this summer, updates on wrecks in the area, or someone asking why a road is closed or why there is smoke in a certain area. Another evolution is that people are using these pages to ask for money and free things. They use these sites to beg others in the community to help them. Some will offer to work for money, which is not the same, while others will want a handout because they asked. Most will ignore these messages, some will make rude comments, and a select few good people will actually help these individuals out. Is this the new way of begging in 2026, and is it smart, or is it a lazy way to ask for help?
Facebook Scams in Colorado
Many scams are happening on Facebook every day, and the hard part about these posts is that you don't know who truly needs help and could potentially pay you back, or who is taking advantage of generosity and trying to mooch off of those in the community. There are far too many who don't want to work or want extra money and use Facebook to help them get what they want, despite the fact that they could afford it. Many are struggling with the cost of living being what it is these days, which is why asking neighbors to help is tough, because odds are, many of them are struggling too. If you are considering helping someone, make sure you do your research and check to see if this is common for the person posting or a one-time post.

While some beggars will still suffer through the heat, wind, rain, and cold weather, sometimes in the same day, others have turned to going the new route of posting on Facebook to ask for help. Times are changing, and apparently, technology is now the new way to ask others for money.
