Greeley Police Holding Active Shooter Training at Northridge

One Northern Colorado high school will see an influx of police officers today. Residents in the area need not worry, as this is planned. The 2026-27 school year is quickly approaching, and while school faculty, parents, and students are all prepping for the upcoming school year, so is law enforcement.

Greeley Police Training Planned at Northridge High School

The Greeley Police Department will be participating in an active shooter training simulation on Wednesday, July 22, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. During this time, there will be a large police presence at Northridge High School, located at 100 North 71st Avenue in West Greeley.

The Greeley Police Department is notifying members of the surrounding community near the high school that they may hear several loud noises, simulated pyrotechnics, or firework-like sounds coming from the grounds of Northridge High School.

No Active Emergency at Northridge High School

The exercise is being used to keep officers prepared, sharp, and ready to protect students at Northern Colorado schools. While residents near Northridge High School may be concerned by the sounds and the large presence of police officers, there is no danger to the public, and police presence is not a response to an active incident.

The Greeley Police Department is asking residents to spread the word about the active shooter training at Northridge High School this afternoon, so people are aware of what is happening. There is no need to call 911 regarding the noises coming from Northridge High School during this timeframe.
