Hooray for a group of local teenagers who are conducting a blanket drive this week for Grand Junction's homeless community.

The Salvation Army teen group,YPL, is doing the blanket drive this week as part of the National 'I'll Fight Day.' The group is asking the community to pitch in and donate blankets of all types and sizes to the drive. The young people will distribute the blankets to the local homeless community on Saturday, December 6.

Blanket donations can be dropped off at the Salvation Army building at 1235 N. 4th, or arrangements to have blankets picked up can be made by calling the office at 970-242-7513. These don't need to be brand new blankets.

Hand claps and hat tips are in order for these young people who are getting involved in the community and reaching out to those indeed. It may be a good thing for all of us to do a little reaching out this holiday season to help those who are less fortunate, whether it's through a blanket donation, or a food and toy donation to the Salvation Army.
