GJFD Is Adding A New Station And Looking To Hire

Grand Junction Fire Station 6 is coming to Horizon Park.

Last week, voters approved a .5% sales tax increase. This week, the city is putting that money to work as they look to break ground on a new fire station. Even though the revenue won't start rolling in until 2020, the fire department says they need the facility now.

While the new fire station is under construction, the city fire and police departments are working on hiring additional staff. That process is getting underway now.  "We're going to mount a very rigorous recruitment campaign and hiring, which will be the largest that our department has ever had in its history," says Deputy Fire Chief Chris Angermuller. The City of Grand Junction is looking to hire police officers and still looking to fill open 911 dispatcher positions. The '911 Call Taker' positions start at $18.92 - $20.88 an hour. The open '911 lateral Dispatcher' position pays $21.96 - $24.24. To apply for these positions, click HERE.
