Would you or someone you know like assistance with clothing and toys this Christmas? If so, the Salvation Army has extended its application deadline for Christmas assistance with their Angel Tree Program.

Okay, so it's a little early to be talking about Christmas. Please remember, though, organizations need to collect applications and coordinate with donors. With this in mind, the Salvation Army has extended the application deadline to November 16, 2020.

According to the Salvation Army's official webpage, the Salvation Army Angel Tree Program "...helps provide Christmas gifts for hundreds of thousands of children around the country each year."

Everyone can agree that all children deserve to experience the joy of Christmas, and that's what this program is all about. The Salvation Army Angel tree helps provide hundreds of thousands of Christmas gifts. Once a senior or a child has been registered and accepted as an angel their Christmas wish is shared with donors in our community who purchase gifts, and those items are distributed to families in need here in Western Colorado.

There are some steps you must take before you are registered for the Angel Tree. These steps may or may not include:

  • Photo ID
  • Proof of Residency
  • Birth Certificate, Official Custody, or Guardianship Papers
  • Clothing and Shoe Sizes

Please Note: The Salvation Army Angel Tree Program is not available in every community in the United States. Via the online application, you can determine if services are available in your area. I checked the application, and the Angel Tree Program is offered in the 81501 and other Grand Junction area zip codes. All communities participating in the program utilize the website application process.

While the application may look like a ton of hoops needing to be jumped through, it will all be worth it to see the joy on kids' faces as they open up Christmas gifts that they wouldn't normally expect. Via their Facebook page, the Salvation Army requests you share this information with friends and neighbors.
