Five Reasons To Attend Colorado’s ‘Seven Peaks Music Festival’

The next big music festival is right around the corner, and you don't even have to travel outside of Colorado. The Seven Peaks Music Festival is coming to Buena Vista starting Friday, August 30, and here are my top five reasons you should be there.

Here we go again. Some of your favorite artists are coming to the state to put on three days of non-stop music. Summer is winding down, and you owe yourself one more weekend of concerts. The Seven Peaks Music Festival is coming up August 30 through September 2.

As you've no doubt noticed, the event's main guy, Dierks Bentley, has taken a strong liking to Colorado in recent years. Between concerts, recording an album here, and using the state as a theme for several of his most recent songs, Dierks has invested a tremendous amount of time and resources to Colorado.

This years event features some of your favorites, including:

• Diamond Rio
• Travis Tritt
• Tracy Lawrence
• Mitchell Tenpenny
• Maren Morris
• Luke Bryan
• Nitty Gritty Dirt Band
• Jon Pardi
• Dierks Bentley

So, why would you want to spend your valuable time and hard-earned dollars on this event? Well, there are several reasons. For the record, my company is not promoting this event. Not at all. Even at that, though, I sincerely believe you should attend. Here are my top five reasons why:

• The lineup is excellent - the perfect way to wrap up the summer
• You can't beat the venue. Buena Vista is magnificent.
• This festival has it all - the music, camping, even sports bars for the football fans.
• A three-day pass comes in at $215, a little pricier than some festivals, but fairly reasonable in the grand scheme of things. I'm looking at taking in a single show in Las Vegas later this year, and tickets for just one act are more than $215.
• You owe yourself one more music-packed weekend before colder weather settles in.

How big a task is it to get to the festival from Grand Junction? According to Google Maps, the drive, if you take I-70, comes in at 220 miles at a travel time of 4:20. If you take the Highway 50 route, you're looking at 220 miles and a travel time of 4:34. It's none of my business, but if I were you, I would take Highway 50 to Gunnison, then to Salida, and over to Buena Vista. It's far prettier, takes about the same time, and more than anything, it's not I-70.

Take in one more concert before the summer ends. In this case, you're looking at three days of concerts. It'll be fun, you can camp, and you don't even have to leave Colorado. Don't miss the 2019 Seven Peaks Music Festival.
