The 'Doctor Who' 50th anniversary special episode, "The Day of the Doctor," will prove monumental enough in its global November 23 simulcast uniting Doctors past and present, but fans looking to get immersed in the experience might want to hold off a day or two. 'Doctor Who' has announced its plans for an American theatrical release of the 50th anniversary special in 300 3D theaters, but where can you check it out?

Only 11 US theaters across the country will join in on the November 23 simulcast of 'The Day of the Doctor,' though that number will jump to more than 300 different cinemas on November 25. Tickets for the Saturday, November 23 screenings will go on sale October 25, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. EST for theaters in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Seattle, Washington, DC, San Francisco, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta and Minneapolis, available for purchase at Cinemark and Fandango.

As for the rebroadcast on the 25th, BBC America and NCM Fathom Events will show 'Doctor Who: The Day of the Doctor' in RealD 3D only one night in more than 300 select cinemas. Tickets will be available at participating theater box offices and at the Fathom Events website, along with a complete list of theater locations and prices. Both showings will include specially shot introductions and 'The Day of The Doctor: Behind The Lens,' a 10-minute behind-the-scenes featurette after the special, featuring testimony from Matt Smith, David Tennant, Jenna Coleman with Billie Piper and John Hurt, and showrunner Steven Moffat.

The landmark anniversary special will run for a full 75 minutes, while the 23rd will also see the airing of a special by Professor Brian Cox on BBC Two about the science behind the show, coupled with ‘Sherlock‘ star Mark Gatiss’ ‘Doctor Who’ origins movie, ‘An Adventure in Space and Time.’
