Denver Area Mom Gives Birth At Home In Her Own Bathroom
When the baby is ready for the world, the baby is ready. It doesn't matter where you are or who you're with, he or she is coming...and that was the case for DeRei Romero from Westminster.
According to 9 News, on May 15, 6 days before the baby's due date, it all happened. Romero, who thought she was just having some strong contractions, tried to lay down but couldn't, because the baby was coming. She managed to crawl into the bathroom and called her aunt in for assistance.
When she tried to get up, she realized that the baby's head was already out, and with most of the work already done, Westminster firefighters responded to Romero at her home. This is where they initially heard the report that the baby wasn't breathing, but after walking in, they realized that thankfully...that wasn't the case.
By the time the firefighters rushed upstairs to the bathroom, they heard a baby crying and realized that Mom had done all of the work by herself (which could very well be a prelude of things to come).
The firefighters simply suctioned the nose and mouth, wrapped the baby girl in a blanket, and that was that.
Home births are pretty rare, but one of the firemen on site said that he had also responded to another home birth in the past week.
With us pretty much doing everything at home over the past year, it's only fitting that some people are just giving birth at home, too!
