Deadly Colorado Arson a Case of Mistaken Identity
The suspects being charged, 16-year-old Gavin Seymour, 16-year-old Kevin Bui, 23-year-old Tanya Bui, and an unidentified 15-year-old allegedly targeted the wrong house when setting it ablaze.
According to new findings, the suspects started the fire as a retaliation attempt on associates that have been identified as drug dealers because of a drug deal gone wrong. However, new findings have shown that the victims, a married couple consisting of 29-year-old Djibril Diol, his wife 23-year-old Adja Diol, their young daughter one-year-old Khadija Diol, family member 25-year-old Hassan Diol, as well as her daughter, 7-month-old Hawa Baye, were not, in fact, the people targeted by the arsonists.
The two 16-year-olds involved in the case are being charged with 60 felonies including multiple counts of murder, arson, burglary, and conspiracy. The unnamed 15-year-old suspect is being charged with 47 crimes which include first-degree murder, attempted murder, first and second-degree assault, arson, burglary, and conspiracy. It is unclear as to what the 23-year-old suspect is being charged with, although it has been made clear that she has also been arrested.
The 16-year-old suspects, while under the age of 18, are being tried as adults. Officials have made it clear that the unnamed 15-year-old suspect may be tried as an adult as well.
The arson occurred several months ago, on August 5th, 2020, and the home was torn down yesterday, Tuesday, February 3rd, 2021.
