This has to be one of the craziest teen fads we've seen. It also has health professionals, especially eye doctors, 'buzzing' about the potential damage the use of lip balm can have on eyes.

The fad, called 'beezin', uses Burt's Bees Lip Balm. However, instead of applying the balm to the lips, it's being applied to the eyelids.

Teens say the peppermint oil in the lip balm, when applied to the eyelids gives them a 'buzz' or tingling sensation similar to the feeling of being drunk or high. Some also report it makes them more alert.

Health professionals deny there's any real 'high' associated with this misuse of lip balm. They do say there is a risk of damage to the eyes including swelling, inflammation and symptoms similar to pink eye.

It's difficult for parents to keep up with all the latest trends and fads, but knowing what they are can open a discussion about the dangers, or alert parents of the symptoms associated with the misuse of everyday products .
