Colorado Teacher Sent to Prison For Relationship With Teen
A former teacher in Colorado has been sentenced to seven years in prison after it was found out that she was having a sexual relationship with a teenager.
The woman, 33-year-old Maggie Christine Stastny, was a teacher in the Cherry Creek School District where she taught at the youth services center. The boy, who has yet to be identified, was allegedly an inmate and because he was a teenager, was attending the center in lieu of a jail sentence.
Stastny showed up in court on Monday, March 1st, 2021, and pleaded guilty to one count of sexual exploitation of a child. She had reached a plea agreement with the courts to have other charges filed against her dropped but still faced a five to seven-year prison sentence for the aforementioned charge, of which it would seem she received the maximum prison sentence.
Stastny allegedly outed herself and her inappropriate behavior on Facebook where she told a friend, "Let's just say I f*cked up a bit...I definitely slept with him." The friend then took screenshots of the conversation and reported the misconduct to authorities.
After police were made aware of Stastny and the boy's relationship, the woman told authorities that not only did she give the boy money, but had sexual relations with him numerous times in numerous places, including a Denver library, her car, and a bathroom.
Stastny was also married at the time of the affair, but she and her husband have since filed for divorce, roughly two months after her arrest.
