I will be the first to admit as soon as I heard what the Center for Disease Control had to say about Halloween and Trick-or-Treating, I wasn't too thrilled. While I understand they have to do everything possible to help slow the spread of the coronavirus it just seemed like all the fun was being taken out of the holiday. Well, with Halloween coming up this weekend most people have made their plans (whatever that may be), but we have lots of other holidays to get ready for as well.

The tips being suggested by the CDC is not to replace any state, local, territorial, or tribal health laws, rules, or regulations. They just want everyone to limit the risk of spreading the coronavirus.

Some things to remember when planning an event:

  • Try to plan the event in an area with low infection rates
  • Possibly move the event outdoors instead of spreading germs inside
  • Try to keep the length of the gathering to a shorter amount of time
  • Limit the number of people getting together
  • Think about keeping it to people who live close to each other
  • Make sure all attendees wear a mask or stay 6 feet apart
  • Wear a mask, wash your hands, etc.

Do NOT attend an in-person holiday celebration with anyone who has been exposed to COVID-19, or is showing any symptoms.

You can find further tips from the CDC regarding hosting holiday gatherings here. If you're not hosting a party but plan on attending one, click here for those tips from the CDC. If you and your family will be traveling during the holidays here are some travel tips to remember.

These tips are just to help keep you and your family safe this holiday season.
