Palisade firefighters on Sunday were surprised to find a vehicle in the Colorado River Sunday morning.

When they checked the vehicle, they were relieved to see there was no one in it. but that meant there was a mystery to solve.

It didn't take long, though for them to figure out what happened. The Colorado State Patrol had received a call through 911 from the driver to let them know he was ok, but then hung up.

Dispatchers state they had asked the driver to return to the scene but as of this morning, he still had not returned.

There are many questions that need to be answered concerning this accident. How did the vehicle end up in the river? Was there anyone else in the vehicle when it went into the river? What caused the accident in the first place?

The Colorado State Patrol are hopeful these questions will be answered soon.
