The Cameron Peak Fire was announced as being fully contained on December 2, 2020, after burning nearly 209,000 acres.

Just in time for the time-off that a lot of folks have at the end of the year, the U.S. Forest Service - Arapahoe & Roosevelt National Forests/Pawnee National Grassland announced on December 23, 2020, that several locations within the  East Troublesome Fire and the Cameron Peak Fire have been reopened.

Only areas that weren't directly affected by the fire or trails that do not lead to affected areas are open; the open areas lie mostly to the west of Highway 14.

Cameron Peak has snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, scenic driving, wildlife viewing, snowmobiling (snowmobiling is not allowed in forest areas), and ice fishing.

Just in time for Christmas, Forest opens several areas in the #EastTroublesome and #CameronPeak fire areas for winter...
