Thursday, August 15, is "Relaxation Day." In your opinion, where's the best place in the valley from which to celebrate?

According to Holiday Insights, "Relaxation Day is a day to kick back and do nothing. Ahhhh! What a great day." Okay, most of us can do that at home. Many of us do it at work. Excluding those two options, where would you like to spend this special day?

Right off the top of my head, here are five places that come to mind:

  • Mesa County Library
  • Roasted (coffee shop at 5th and Colorado)
  • Audubon Trail
  • Barnes and Noble (bookstore)
  • Bob's house (a buddy of mine)

While those options seem nice, none would strike anyone as luxurious (sorry, Bob). The Mesa County Library would be enlightening and ultimately beneficial, but you can do that almost any day. The Audubon Trail is soothing and is a great source for light exercise, but it's available 365 days a year. Where should one go for this special day?

Holiday Insights had a few suggestions. Here they are, in no particular order:

  • Do nothing today
  • Go to a Spa
  • Go fishing
  • Play a round of golf(caution: not always relaxing)
  • Lounge around in a hammock
  • Take a bubble bath
  • Go to the  movies
  • Do a little gardening (no heavy-duty work, though)
  • Have a picnic in the park

I just thought of one more: Trailhead Coffee. I've been there once since they ceased being Laughing Dog Coffee House. That's where I'll go. How about you? Wait, I just thought of another one. Massage therapist or day spa. That's the place to go.

I'm going to start a shortlist of "relaxing" places located around the valley. If you see your favorite, cast your vote. If not, write it in, and it will be added to the list.
