We all knew that we could see some snow over yesterday, with some snowflakes in the forecast. But I don't think many of us thought that we would see the amount of snow that actually fell yesterday afternoon and night. It is because of the unexpected weather that the officials at Mesa County Valley School District 51 decided it would be best to cancel all D51 schools for today (Monday, October 26th). This will include D51 online classes as well.

It would be difficult for all school buses, administration, and teachers to get to school safely so officials said it would be best to let this snow pass and get back to learning tomorrow. The weather today has a chance of seeing a little bit of snow in the morning but most likely just rain which will help get rid of the snow we got last yesterday.

If you are a parent of a District 51 student and you're still going to work today, please be extra careful on the roadways especially this morning. There will obviously be snow on the road and areas of ice as well. Please drive slower than normal and leave plenty of distance between you and the vehicle in front of you.

**For D51 Staff Members**Schools and administrative offices are closed; only identified emergency response staff are required to report to work. Please check your district email for more information.
