I'm from Colorado, so maybe I'm biased, but I'd say that the Centennial State is a pretty fantastic place to live in (or visit).

But what really makes our state so great?

There are obvious factors, like the mountains or the skiing or the near-constant sunshine. However, Colorado has a plethora of other hidden gems and characteristics that make it extra special — and I'm not the only one who thinks so.

For example, Wallethub believes that Colorado is the second most independent state in the U.S. Another ranking asserts that it's the sixth most fun. 4AutoInsuranceQuote.com reports that Coloradans are the best at driving in the snow, and Fort Collins, Denver, Colorado Springs, Aurora, and Lakewood have all been listed as some of the best cities to live in.

Colorado can also take credit for inventing the cheeseburger and for being home to the most haunted road in America.

We've hosted the casts of Blades of GloryDumb and DumberDie Hard 2, National Lampoon's Vacation, and Mr. and Mrs. Smith (so, Colorado is basically responsible for Brangelina). Plus, celebrities like Amy Adams, Dog the Bounty Hunter, AnnaSophia Robb, and Jessica Biel have also called the Centennial State home.
