Camping in Colorado in the winter isn't among the state's most popular past times, but if you are going to do it, camping in a yurt is the way to go.

Yurts are round tents, built around a wooden frame with windows and skylights to light up the inside, and are about 20 feet in diameter.

It's not exactly Motel 6, but the amenities aren't bad. Many of Colorado's yurts come with power, and propane or electric heat. Bunk beds and futons are usually included, you just have to provide the bedding. Some come with a table and chairs and a ceiling fan which come in real handy in the summer time.

There aren't a ton of yurts available, but they can be reserved year round via Colorado Parks and Wildlife. You will find yurts at Golden Gate Canyon, Mancos, Pearl Lake, State Forest, Ridgway, and Sylvan Lake.
