As busy as life is, many wish there were more than 24 hours in a day. Today (June 30), your wish just came true.

Today is Leap Second Day, which means the day will be one second longer than any other day of the year.

Instead of the last second of the day being 11:59:59, one second will be added making the time 11:59:60 before it's officially Wednesday.

Leap seconds have the same purpose as leap years by keeping the world's atomic clocks synchronized with the earth's rotation and seasons.

For the average person, the one-second difference doesn't really matter. However, the last leap second in 2012 caused numerous problems for some large time-sensitive computer systems that don't have the capability to account for the extra second of time.

This video gives some simple tips on how to avoid possible problems from tonight's Leap Second.

Since it will be a few years before we have another day longer that 24 hours, the question is, what are you going to do with that extra second so it's not wasted?
