Things did not look so promising for the Grand Junction Rockies when they began their inaugural season at Suplizio Field. The losses seems to accumulate at a much faster pace than the wins. But at the mid-way point of the season the Rockies find themselves tied for first place in the Pioneer League South Division. Granted, the 3rd and 4th place teams are close behind, but, still, it's nice to be at the top of the heap.

And the fact is, fans want to see a winner. There's no question about that. The GJ Rockies got a boost this past weekend with the presence of Colorado Rockies  first baseman Todd Helton in more ways than one. Not only contributing to a pair of wins, but, as we expected, was a boon to ticket sales, with over 10,000 fans in attendance for the two games in which Helton played.

We are hoping the Rockies continue to add wins during the second half of the season. Maybe more Colorado Rockies players will need to do "rehab" at the rookie league level. And as was the case with Todd Helton, it could help the GJ Rockies win games AND sell tickets.
