It used to be something of a local pastime in Western Colorado. You took your family, a couple of gold pans, a light lunch, and maybe your pets if you had them, and you went gold panning along Western Colorado's river banks. Have you done it lately?

The photo below shows my great-grandpa, John Clark, doing a little gold panning right here in our own backyard. He didn't even bother to change clothes. He went out to pan straight from the office. You'll note he only has one leg. See, even a one legged guy in dress slacks can find a little fun and recreation with gold panning. For the record, he never made it rich, though.
