What’s Involved In Determining ‘Amateur’ Winners at Pork and Hops Competition? [PHOTOS]?
What is the criteria used to determine who wins the amateur competition at the Bud Light Colorado Pork and Hops Challenge? Take a look behind the scenes.
The panel of four judges were asked to sample and score barbecue from nine amateur teams at this year's event. Of course, the judges were more than happy to comply.
The judging criteria included four categories, and one overall score. The judges were asked to give scores ranging from one to five for each of the following categories:
- texture
- appearance
- tenderness
- taste
The judges were then asked to provide an overall score between two and nine, with two being "inedible" and nine being "exceptional."
Not surprisingly, the judges scores remained consistent across the four person panel. Behold, the winner!
