Western Colorado residents turned out by the hundreds last week to donate gently worn clothing items to the Herberger's Goodwill sale. When it was all said and done, thousands of pieces of clothing and coats went to Grand Junction's Goodwill.

On Wednesday, September 17th, Herberger's at the Mesa Mall hosted the donation drive. In exchange for a clothing donation, participants received three coupons for up to 25% a purchase at Herberger's. If a person donated ten items, they received 30 coupons, and so on.

People began rolling in as early as 7:45 that morning with their donations. When it was all said and done, Goodwill received a total of 8,450 clothing donations!

Representatives from both Herberger's and Goodwill were on hand to take donations and provide information. Goodwill then turns funds generated by the sale of these donations into opportunities for local job seekers via programs for youth, seniors, veterans, and people with disabilities and other specialized needs.
