Jammers gathered last Tuesday night at a Grand Junction venue to honor the man who gave many of them their start in music. Some of Western Colorado's best players got up to jam in memory of Mesa College professor Paul Schneider.

Professor Schneider, who served as the director of instrumental music at Mesa College, then Mesa State College, and ultimately Colorado Mesa University, passed away last Sunday at his home in Grand Junction.

Musicians from around Western Colorado, many of them having received their first music lessons from the professor, attended the weekly Tuesday Bluesday jam at Charlie Dwellington's on West Main in Grand Junction.

In attendance at last night's performance was Bad Bob Walker, renowned Blues guitarist and drummer, who got his start in music with Professor Schneider. Walker dedicated "You Got To Move" to his former teacher.

Paul Schneider, who I nicknamed "The Boogie Dr " years ago.....My professor at Mesa College who helped me get my music degree, soon became my music partner whom I've worked hundreds of shows these last 20 years, once I returned from California......Knowing and performing with Paul always made me feel like a better person and musician. I love him dearly and will miss him" - Bobby Walker

Professor Schneider's memorial service will be held this Thursday in Grand Junction.
