Not only was June 20 a hot day in Western Colorado, it was the longest day of the year and featured the Longest Day of the Year Wiener Dog Races in Grand Junction.

This first annual event was put on by the Alzheimer's Association of Western Colorado at Holy Family Catholic School.

There were just a few wiener dogs competing in this first-time summer event, but they had a tail-wagging good time. And the crowd that gathered to watch could do nothing but smile the whole time.

Check out our video highlights above from the Longest Day of the Year Wiener Dog Races and give yourself a smile. And if you have a wiener dog, be looking for the next wiener dog racing event!
