Cemeteries are fascinating places.

Every cemetery has stories to tell and history to unfold. There may be great memories or unspeakable heartache up and down the rows of headstones and grave markers.

A cemetery tour in October might make you think of Halloween connections, but that's not what this is all about.

The Museums of Western Colorado are offering tours  October 13 and 27 at of two of Mesa County's oldest cemeteries - Orchard Mesa Cemetery in Grand Junction, and White Water Cemetery.

Walking through these hallowed harbors of rest, you will hear some of the stories of the cemeteries' history and some of Grand Junction's most famous residents like George Crawford and Walter Walker.

If the idea of walking through a cemetery at night creeps you out, no worries. These tours take place in broad daylight. Erin Schmitz, Curator of Collections and Archives for the Museum, will lead the tours.

The cost of the tour is $45, or $40 if you are a museum member, and transportation.
You can get more information on the museum website.
