Tope Elementary Closed Wednesday, GJHS Will Be Open For TCAPs

School District 51 released the following information regarding the schools affected by the gas explosion that happened near 7th and Orchard Streets on Tuesday afternoon:

DISTRICT 51 CLOSES TOPE ELEMENTARY
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 20
Grand Junction, Colo. – Tope Elementary will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday, March 20, 2013.
Grand Junction High School will be open as scheduled with TCAP testing beginning at 7:25 a.m. for 9th and 10th grade.
The neighborhood around Tope Elementary remains evacuated. Approximately 75 homes in an area previously defined by the MCCOA Joint Information Center are impacted. Since the evacuated area is in close proximity to Tope Elementary, the school will be closed on Wednesday, March 20 to ensure student safety.
