There are only a few things better than a delicious hot pastrami sandwich on a chilly day. So why not celebrate National Hot Pastrami Sandwich Day (January 14) with a delicatessen favorite.

Before you do, take a look at what Joey 'Jaws' Chestnut had to say after devouring 25 of the sandwiches to set a world record.

If you're not familiar with Pastrami, it's made with brined meat - typically beef - which is seasoned, smoked and steamed prior to serving.

In the US, the hot pastrami sandwich is typically served on rye bread and is well complimented by coleslaw, pickles Russian dressing or yellow mustard. Some also dress it up with melted cheese and sauteed onions.

If you're not a fan of rye bread, it's ok -- although not as tasty in my opinion --  to use pumpernickel or the artisan bread of your choice.

If you don't want to make your own hot pastrami sandwich, there are some Grand Junction restaurants more than happy to serve you their version of the deli favorite.
