More than five million people in the United States suffer from Alzheimer's Disease, and approximately 72,000 of them are living in Colorado. Alzheimer's is the 6th leading cause of death in the nation, but it's the impact on family members and caregivers that is most notable. That's why for the 10th consecutive year, KOOL 107.9 is sponsoring the Walk to End Alzheimer's on Saturday, September 14th at Long Family Memorial Park in Grand Junction.

The walk raises funds for the Western Colorado chapter of the Alzheimer's Association. That means the money raised here, stays here to provide education, counseling, support, and the 24 hour help line offered at no cost to Alzheimer's families and caregivers.

The Montrose Walk to End Alzheimer's is this Saturday, August 24th  at Sunrise Creek Living Center while the Grand Junction walk is September 14th. Registration begins at 8am and the walk starts at 9am.

Another way to support the Alzheimer's Association is to eat at the Dragon Treasure Restaurant  in Fruita this Sunday (25th). Between noon and 8pm all you have to do is make a donation at the door, and you eat for free.
